After cruising around Music Square yesterday, and holding back every urge to just walk into Sony and say “Okay I’m here, let’s get started” just to see how long it took them to realize… “we don’t know this guy” and seconds later I would run out screaming “THE END IS COMING!!!!”
I met up with J. Hall at Sound Kitchen to talk records and music and pretty much just chill, met some pretty cool people and capped off the evening finishing a tune. But still couldn’t get away from that picture in my mind of the peeps at Sony standing there going “uhm, boss, we got a kid out here yelling THE END IS COMING, seems to have nice tone though, maybe we give him a shot, nope, call security” You should all be afraid of what my brain can do when the rest of the guys aren’t around to reign me in haha.
A little lyric for you from the new tune last night, “I’m not scared to be alone, but I’m scared of being lonely”

Woke up Sunday morning after a wonderful show at the Pepsi Amphitheater with Sounds Under Radio, Carolina Liar and Lit. It was great to meet Chad Wolf and hear the stories of songwriting in Sweden, what a great inspiration right before I boarded a flight to Nashville TN for a songwriting adventure of my own.
I land at BNA right around 11:15 and I’m off to grab my guitar, pick up a car and try to get some rest before starting my week. But, the guitar is no where to be found, well to be fair to Delta Airlines it was somewhere to be found… somewhere in Atlanta. Oh well, who needs an instrument to write songs any way right?
I reach my host house, a big thank you to Amanda and Christy Montoya for letting me crash their couch this week. But I can’t sleep cause I’m freakin’ EXCITED! Not to worry, Deadliest catch is on and I’m sure I can find coffee somewhere in the morning.
Sure can, first thing I head to Starbucks on Music Square. There are so many people buzzing around, and you know they have one thing on their mind, the same thing that’s on my mind. “Let’s Make Music”
It’s gonna be a good week, thanks to the rest of the band for sending me out here, and thanks to all of you that have believed in Fight the Quiet and continue to support, stick around cause we’re not done with you yet!!!

This last Tuesday Christian and I flew from Phoenix Arizona up to Oakland California to see U2 on one of the last dates of their 360 tour. In the words of Lenny Kravitz who opened for the Irish Rock Gods “There is no greater band than U2, it’s not up for discussion, they are the best, they are a supergroup.”

When you see a stadium fill up from a couple 100 people to nearly 60,000 (which is larger than Flagstaff Az, when NAU is on summer break.) It makes you think, “do these guys remember playing to bar stools?” and were they the rock gods they are now, back then?

Newspapers, critics and fans have called Fight the Quiet “a stadium band… without the stadium” Well, we’re coming for the stadium and it starts with places like Homestead Lanes in Cupertino, and Tiger Bar in Portland. Thanks to everyone that has attended one of our concerts and I hope to see you this July as we start preparing for the stadium, and once we get there you can say, “I saw them when”

So some of you may wonder what’s with the U.S. Cirque thing. Back in the day, which was a Wednesday (Cook fan’s present say “I”) bands would just # their tours. As a band we think there’s something missing in the way tours are presented. It’s somewhere between 5 & 25 bands that perform everynight on one tour, and they have ridiculous names like… “The cat’s out of the bag, we ran out of clever titles for all things rock & roll” Tour! So we thought going back to the # system might be a nice change.
So here’s how it works. At this time we are only a national touring band, so it’s been all U.S. “Cirque” is really just a cool way to say Circuit. The number refers to the the quarter year, so 11.1 would be all tours between 01/01/2011 to 03/31/2011.
That being said we’re coming up on Fight the Quiet /// U.S. Cirque 11.2. We will be making our way through Texas and Colorado, also we plan to spend some time writing for a new record. No firm plans in place for recording at this time but we want to the songs to be ready.
It’s important to keep in mind that there is only one way we will perform on the “TCOOTB,WROOCTFATR&R Tour” and that’s if Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon or Lady Gaga are headlining… Wait did I say Lady Gaga, I meant U2.

Have a great week, check the tour dates for when we’ll be back your way. Always Love!
I hope you are all doing well as the first month of 2011 winds to a close. I’m sitting in a hotel room in Jacksonville listening to our friends I Am Empire’s new record Kings, thinking back to when we first started touring our new album Let Me In. It’s been over 100 shows since we met up with I Am Empire and Fighting The Villain in San Jose CA last May. We have crossed some major milestones since then. Last week Fight the Quiet performed at Sam’s Burger Joint in San Antonio, Emo’s in Austin, we’re sharing the stage with so many great bands and connecting with so many cool fans and friends. We had four days off and we’re about to start heading back west after our show tonight at Jack Rabbits in Jacksonville. There’s so much to be stoked about, I mean, we’re a freakin’ rock and roll band on tour and during our days off… WE FOUND 2-4-1 $10 12 packs, so Boo-YA!

My eyes fight me as I try to open them, the sting that comes to my lower back as I role over for another 10 minutes of sleep, gives more of a jolt than a cup of coffee ever could, and I’m awake. It’s a new week of tour and there is no better place to start than Austin Texas.

We kicked off U.S. Cirque ’11.1 in San Luis Obispo last Tuesday at The Frog and Peach. It was a great show but they failed to let us know they were expecting 3 hours of music from us. I pulled out every cover I got and we’re only 2 hours deep. After I lead a crowd of 150 in a chorus of Wonderwall, I realize, even if this bar isn’t stoked, these people aren’t going to forget Fight the Quiet!

All the shows have been amazing so far, but we’re definitely working out all the kinks in the first week; Christian broke his kick drum head, Alec’s gain pedal decides to let a demon sing every once in a while, some one accidentally stole Tim’s bass guitar case (they returned it cause we were holding their Tele ransom haha), and we had a flat tire on the trailer. I figure by San Diego it’s probably my turn, and sure enough, right as we’re capping off the night with Alec wailing a solo in Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor, I catch my ankle on a cable and T-Bone the drum riser with my spine.

As I change my socks on the steps of a building in Austin, I realize I couldn’t be more happy. That sting, it let’s me know I’m alive. Sometimes you have to stop and listen to “The Music Our Collision’s Make” (mewithoutYOU) and make it a song all your own.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend. We spent a lot of time on the road this year and it was great to meet all the wonderful people!
2011 is going to be a great year for Fight the Quiet! We hope to hear songs from Let Me In everywhere this year, and with the 100 shows we played in 2010 I think people can’t help but start to pay attention to “That rock band from Northern Arizona” haha.
Please enjoy your holiday season, be sure to add your favorite Fight the Quiet song to those bad sweater party playlists!
